Who We Are

NorthernBox is a community-driven organization founded in 2023 with a simple yet powerful vision: to bridge the opportunity gap between Northern Kenya and the rest of the world. We started as a small group of passionate individuals who believed that geography should not determine destiny.

We provide a space where individuals can learn new skills, share knowledge, build networks, and collaborate on projects that solve challenges and open up opportunities. By combining diverse perspectives and talents, NorthernBox empowers people to grow personally and professionally while shaping a brighter future for their communities.

From a spark of inspiration to a growing movement, here are the milestones that shaped NorthernBox.

Community Spark

NorthernBox was born from a vision by grassroots tech leaders aiming to bridge the digital divide across Northern Kenya.

2023

Mentorship Pilot Cohort

We launched our first mentorship program with 15 mentees and 4 dedicated mentors, achieving a 90% satisfaction rate.

2024

Digital Upskilling with DataCamp

Partnered with DataCamp Donates to provide over 35 youth and mentors with free access to high-quality training in data science, Python, and AI.

2025

Impact in Motion

Active in 5+ counties, impacting 100+ mentees. Formed new partnerships and hosted our first regional summit focused on youth empowerment.

Community Leader | Tech Mentor

Guyo is a software engineer and grassroots organizer focused on building inclusive digital communities. He leads community engagement programs and develops platforms to mentor and equip youth with essential tech skills.

Diram B. Guyo

Community Manager | Tech Advocate

Diram brings a strong foundation in policy, youth development, and civic engagement. She oversees community program strategy and builds partnerships with local institutions.

Mustafa Ahmed

Innovation Lead | Developer Advocate

Mustafa is a seasoned developer and innovation strategist. He focuses on leveraging technology to create scalable solutions for community challenges, including digital literacy and access to resources.
